What you can do in the portal

  • Share documents securely. Upload tax documents, financial records, and other files through an encrypted connection, never by unprotected email.
  • Sign forms electronically. Review and sign engagement letters, authorizations, and other documents from any device.
  • Send and receive messages. Keep our conversations in one organized place, with a clear record you can always refer back to.
  • Track open items. See what's been requested, what you've completed, and what still needs your attention.
  • Access invoices. View and manage billing in the same secure space.

Quick setup tips

A few minutes of setup makes sure our messages always reach you and never get lost in a spam folder. We recommend doing these once when you first get access.

1. Add us to your safe sender list

This is the single most important step. It tells your email provider that our messages are trusted, so portal notifications and replies land in your inbox instead of spam. Add these addresses and domains as safe senders:

  • drichter@richtertax.com (our direct email)
  • @richtertax.com (our firm domain)
  • @karbonhq.com (our portal's notification system)

How you do this depends on your email provider. In Gmail, create a filter for these addresses and choose "Never send to Spam." In Outlook, add them under Junk Email settings as Safe Senders. In Apple Mail, add the sender to your Contacts and mark any message as "Not Junk" if needed.

2. Save our contact information

Add us to your phone and email contacts so you'll always recognize a message or call from us:

Saving our number also helps you recognize our appointment reminder texts if you've opted in to text messages.

3. Check that notifications are on

When you first log in, make sure email notifications are enabled in your portal settings. That way you'll know right away when there's a new message, a document to sign, or a request that needs your attention.

4. Use a device that works for you

The portal works on your computer, tablet, or phone. Use whichever is most convenient. For uploading documents, many clients find it easiest to snap a photo or upload a scan directly from their phone.

5. Keep your login handy

Bookmark the login page or save it in your password manager so you can get back in quickly whenever you need to.
